Leading conversations on sustainable buildings
Johnson Controls participated in the inaugural Greenbuild India organized in Mumbai in November by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). We shared insights on creating a sustainable green built environment, highlighting that innovation in sustainability is not just about invention but also applying available knowledge and technology effectively. According to the USGBC, India ranks third among the top ten countries outside the U.S. for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

Tackling fire safety
Fire safety remains a critical issue in India, with the fire safety systems and equipment market in the country projected to grow 9 percent between 2017 and 2023. Johnson Controls presented our fire safety solutions at a conference organized by the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) in Mumbai in October, highlighting that the key to tackling fire safety is creating awareness and implementing preventive measures.

Green hospitals for India
Green hospitals are fast becoming popular in India as they are known to enhance recovery time. Aligning with the nation’s needs, Johnson Controls participated in the first ever Hospital Engineering Summit, launched by Hosmac India in Ahmedabad in November – showcasing our smart and energy efficient solutions for green hospitals to doctors, architects, engineers and project management experts.

Transforming tunnel ventilation for metros
The India Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) organized a conference in Delhi in November titled “Tunnel Ventilation: Learnings and Opportunities”. Johnson Controls presented our wide range of solutions for tunnel ventilation, focusing on metro railways, one of the most utilized modes of transport in India. Attendees included key decision makers and senior officials from all the metro railways builders in the country.

Achieving a new benchmark of quality assurance
The Johnson Controls India Design Center of Excellence (CoE), or IDC, has attained ISO 9001:2015 certification, the international standard measuring an organization’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Established in 2014, the IDC provides engineering and design services to our fire detection, fire suppression, sprinkler, closed-circuit television, security, retail and building management system lines of business, enabling us to better address market needs and serve customers.
